Angie's Story - Painful Intercourse and Pelvic Pain
I am 40 years old, single, and engaged to be married with no children, who experienced
pain during intercourse. I was diagnosed several years ago with a
retroverted or tipped uterus and told that it was just something that I had to learn to
live with. Because the UPLIFT procedure changed my life, I want other women who may be
experiencing the same problems to know that there is hope for them. Here is my story:
I began experiencing constant pelvic pain in my 20's and I kept going to
doctors for pain medication and antibiotics. They told me that I had
bladder infections and inflammation. Like many others, I was embarrassed to
tell my OB/GYN that I was having pain with and after intercourse. Over the
years the pain grew worse and I was taking pain medication every other day.
Finally, I decided "enough is enough"! I refused to take any
more pain medication and was determined to find a
solution to my pain, so I started searching the Internet, where I found
www.inletmedical.org. I read all of the information I could and
wanted to learn more about the UPLIFT procedure
After reading about the UPLIFT procedure and the testimonies of the women
who had the procedure done, I found out that I was not alone. There are
more women out there experiencing the same pelvic problems. I found a doctor
through the web site and emailed him to see if I would be a candidate for the UPLIFT procedure. I
received an e-mail from the doctor and I scheduled an appointment for a
consultation the same week. The doctor conducted a pelvic exam and
determined that indeed I had a retroverted uterus. I felt very comfortable
with the doctor and his services and immediately scheduled an outpatient
surgery date.
The UPLIFT procedure was done and my insurance covered 100%. General
anesthesia was performed and the procedure only lasted approximately 25-30
minutes. I was in recovery for approximately 3-4 hours. Because I had some nausea
and vomiting, the doctor kept me overnight for observation.
The next morning he explained that the procedure went well and some
people experience some nausea and vomiting after surgery. He also explained
that I would be sore and it would take approximately 2 weeks to recover and
get back to my normal activities I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't feel worse.
The doctor discharged me and I went home to recover and stayed out of work
for 3 weeks.
About 4 weeks after the surgery I could tell the difference right away. I
highly recommend this procedure to any one who maybe experiencing the same
problems. I would gladly do it all over again, because this procedure has
made my life much better. I thank God for this procedure and the doctors.
