Pelvic Adhesions - Related Conditions
Trauma, surgery or inflammation can all contribute to adhesion formation.
Endometriosis may contribute to adhesion formation. Endometrial cells that usually
line the inside of the uterus grow outside of the uterus in the pelvic cavity.
These cells respond each month to the same hormonal influences that cause the
lining of the uterus to shed blood during a woman's monthly period. But the
blood produced by these misplaced cells has no exit from the body. This can
lead to chronic inflammation and adhesions or scar tissue may form.
