UPLIFT Procedure - Clinical Results
Many women have benefited from the UPLIFT procedure. Dr. James E. Carter, a
leading gynecologist located in Mission Viejo, CA, recently reported the clinical
results on 75 women who have undergone the procedure.1
The women experienced either painful intercourse or painful periods or both.
When rating their pain on a 10-point scale with 0 being no pain at all and 10 the
worst pain ever experienced, they rated their pain as severe (between 8 and 9) prior
to the UPLIFT procedure. Following the UPLIFT procedure, 84% of the women reported
no pain (between 0 and 2).
The UPLIFT procedure was completed in an average of 12 minutes. The recovery
time was about 4 hours, and the patients went home the same day. The typical
patient did not experience any complications. Five of the 75 women experienced
pain at the incision site, which was treated with the injection of pain medication.
A multi-center study published in 2005, followed 62 women following the UPLIFT procedure. Pelvic pain,
dyspareunia and dysmenorrhea were significantly reduced in this group of patients.2
The UPLIFT procedure is an effective treatment for collision dyspareunia
due to a tipped or retroverted uterus. It can be performed as a laparoscopic procedure
on an on patient basis. Recovery time is reduced compared to traditional surgery
performed by opening the abdomen, and the procedure has demonstrated excellent
long term results.
