Symptoms of Vaginal Vault Prolapse?

Symptoms vary depending upon the severity of the prolapse.

Women may experience any or all of several symptoms including:

  • Vaginal pain
  • Vaginal heaviness
  • A feeling that "something is falling out"
  • A bulge into the vagina
  • Painful intercourse (dyspareunia)
  • Back ache
  • Involuntary loss of urine (incontinence)
  • Difficulty urinating
  • Anal pain
  • Vaginal discharge
  • Pain with prolonged standing
  • Bladder infections
  • Some women do not empty their bladder or bowels completely and must strain or splint the prolapse with their fingers in order to defecate or urinate completely.
